The method involves uncovering steel cords (1) in a final (2) specified length of a flat conveyor belt (3) and has several warm fusible materials which are embedded in the steel cords. By heating the final articles (2), the fusible material melts and flows to expose the steel parts. The flat belt (3) is made of a polyurethane material (10). At an adjacent area (4) of the belt, the heat of the final articles is kept at a lower temperature than the melting point of the material. An independent claim is included for a flat belt.
