The bread cutter has a chamber (1) forming a bread-receiving chamber for the bread, which is still uncut and has another chamber (2) adjacent to the bread-receiving chamber and forms a bread extraction chamber. A knife (4) is arranged between the two chambers by which the bread is sliced during its movement from two chambers. A mechanical drive is arranged at the cut bread support (6), by which the cut bread support is moved back into the initial position nearer to the knife.
