The method involves exposing the tone wood to the development of a mushroom type wood decomposing for a limited treatment period. The mushroom type and the treatment period are selected such that an enlargement of the ratio from the sound speed of the wood to molded density of the wood is attained by the treatment and do not fall short of specified minimum specified values of the tone wood. Ascomycetes, Basiodiomycetes and Deuteromycetes are used from the family of the Chaetomiaceae, Dematiaceae, Melanosporaceae and Herpotrichiellaceae.
