The arsenic removal method involves filtering of polluted water in a two stage anaerobic method, where before filtration a slight stoichiometric amount of hydrogen sulfide is added to the polluted water in fixed bed reactor (2). A trace of arsenic (III) sulfide is precipitated as orpiment in iron sulfide in filtration stage. The demagnetization of water is carried out by addition of air in conventional reactor (6). The filtration stage is operated with a filter and pouring as fixed bed. An independent claim is also included for a device for removal of arsenic from contaminated water, which comprises a fixed bed reactor with metering unit.
