The luggage carrier (16) for a motor vehicle for arranging on an inner wall (14) of a rear-end door (12) which closes off the rear opening in the body has at least one holding element (18a,b) for the luggage which can be moved from a stowed position over a lateral end region of the luggage carrier into a holding position and back again. The holding element is pivotably supported on the luggage carrier and has sliding capability. A locking device is provided, by which the holding element can be releasably fixed. The luggage carrier is detachable from the rear-end door.
