A head rest (34) has supports connected with the back rest in a pivoting manner and cooperating with the back rest to position the head rest proximity to head of an occupant. A head rest adjusting mechanism has a releasing mechanism, a link operatively connected with the releasing mechanism and another link movable by the former link. The lateral link has a set of projections detachably connected with the supports, such that the supports can move from a locked position to an unlocked position when the releasing mechanism is operated.
