The method involves adjusting a pilot controlled injection amount and/or an air mass stream-reference value by a transfer factor of an air supply system, an internal combustion engine (10) and an exhaust gas system. The amount and the reference value are adjusted between an injection amount-reference value, an injection amount-actual value and an air mass stream-actual value. The transfer factor is determined as a function of engine torque and engine speed of the internal-combustion engine.
