The device has strips (3, 4) made of sail-cloth material. Each of the strips is retractably connected with a sail (1) on respective sides of the sail in a leech area by joints (3.1, 4.1), which run along leading edges of the sail. The leech area is provided parallel to a leech (1.1), and plastic sheet material is utilized for the strips, where movability of the strips is limited to 20 to 30 angular degrees by connecting filaments (3.2, 4.2). The filaments are placed in a predetermined distance near eight-sided edges of the strips, and have ends connected to the sail.
