The method involves comparing function values of the correction function with function values of a target injected amount function to correct the injected amount. The linear correction function is defined by two points, where the former point of the linear correction function is characterized by a pre-defined transition of a ballistic nozzle needle movement to a non-ballistic stroke limiting stop. The exhaust gas temperature is measured for the determination of the later point.
