The method involves cooling a guide roller (2), and subjecting a part of a surrounded region of the guide roller with water vapor by a steam humidifier (3). A fibrous web (1) e.g. paper, is pressed during enlacing of the guide roller. The guide roller is cooled in such a manner that temperature is adjusted between 20 and 40 degree Celsius at a roller coat surface.
