The method involves supplying a block material (M) in a plastic ductile or a liquid condition at a block forming tool. A surface (S) of a workpiece is formed by the plastic ductile or the block material in the block forming tool, without interconnecting the workpiece and the block material. The workpiece and the block material are separated, and temperatures of the workpiece and the block material are adjusted with respect to each other, at an ambient temperature, to solidify the block material. The workpiece and the block material are connected by an adhesive joint. An independent claim is also included for a material for blocking a workpiece.
