The device has a connecting rod (6) axially adjustable between a clamping position and a release position. A clamping spring is provided for admission of the rod in a direction of the clamping position. A sensor (20) is arranged within a hollow cylindrical machine spindle (1) i.e. machine tool, for monitoring clamping force. The sensor is assigned to transponder arrangements with a stationary stator ring (27) and a stator (26) that is axially adjustable by stroke movement of a clamping cone (8) within the ring for wireless data and energy transfer.
