Method for computer aided determination of string similarity between two character strings, involves detecting multiple characters as search key of character string

The method involves detecting multiple characters (2) as a search key of a character string (1). Another character string (3) has multiple characters stored as trade names stored in databanks (6,7,8). A representation of the character string of the search key and trade name is sectioned automatically in n-grams with similar character string. Each n-gram has two characters for determining the character string similarity of the n-grams of the search key. The n-grams of the trade are compared with each other automatically.
