The empty goods automat (1) has an image detection unit (7), and a mirror (10) is arranged such that a side view of the emptying goods (5) is formed on the image detection unit. An evaluation unit (18) classifies the empty goods depending upon the side view of the emptying goods. An independent claim is also included for a method to operate empty goods automat.
