The device has a reservoir (14) for supplying fresh toner particles of a toner box. The latent image is dyed by transferring the toner particles from the developer roller (24) to the intermediate support (OPC), which remains on the developer roller, and does not detaches transmitted toner particles. A part of the detached toner particles is transported into the toner box. An independent claim is also included for a method for dying of latent images of an intermediate support with toner particle.
