Device for carrying out the gripping movements for patients with a paralyzed hand (11) comprises a prosthetic hand (23) in addition to the paralyzed hand to control the movements over the nervous system. An independent claim is also included for a method for the production of a gripping action using the prosthetic hand. Preferred Features: The prosthetic hand and the paralyzed hand are arranged to move on a moving mechanism (5) controlled by currents from the brain. The moving mechanism has a control unit in the moving directions of the lower arm (3).
