The device has a housing with an inlet opening and an outlet opening. A separation element (20) includes a capillary cavity with a capillary opening (25), which is connected to the housing, such that the element redirects air flow occuring in the device over an outlet and leaving from the outlet for separating dirt particles. The particles are guided into the capillary cavity through the capillary opening based on a pull effect of the air flow caused by an capillary effect.
