The device for pressing a component (5) on a vehicle windscreen (6) comprises at least one suction knob (2) which can be fixed on the windscreen by vacuum action. A support frame (3), which has a threaded hole (16), is fastened on the suction knob. A pressing spindle (4) is fitted in the threaded hole and on one end has a pressure head (18) for pressing the component against the windscreen, and on the other end a handle (19) for manual operation of the pressing spindle. An independent claim is included for a method for exchanging a component which is adhesively fastened on a vehicle windscreen, with the windscreen installed in the vehicle.
