An improved method for accurate positioning of a stent, e.g. for cardiac operation, uses an improved design which is partially unfolded near to the optimum site in response to cardiac signals. The unfolding is partly automatic followed by complete unfolding when the stent is in the optimum position and at the selected part of the cardiac cycle to prevent displacement.
