The device has a groove running in longitudinal direction in a guide rail (2). A clamping unit detachable by a lever is assigned to an object (1) i.e. vehicle seat. The clamping unit exhibits a slide shoe (5) which intervenes into the groove. The slide shoe is designed in a circular shape and intervenes into a lateral undercut that is formed by the groove. The slide shoe is arranged at a guidance guide (6), which penetrates into guide rail stripes (3), where the lever is linked at the end of the guidance guide.
