The method involves detecting a cylinder position on the basis of a stopped condition of an internal-combustion engine of a vehicle. Starting of the internal-combustion engine is initialized. Fuel amount to be supplied in a starting phase, a point of time of injection of the fuel into the combustion chamber and an ignition time point are determined depending on the cylinder position detected in a stopped condition. Dependencies of engine characteristics are stored in a controller. The fuel amount to be supplied is determined depending on a time duration of stop phase.
