The unit (1) has an inner piston defining a longitudinal axle, and comprising a lamp axle (A). An illuminant i.e. spiral wound filament, is brought into the piston surrounded by an outer piston that is in tubular form. Ends of the outer piston are respectively closed by a pinch (5), and molybdenum foils (6) are brought into the pinch and guided outwardly by an external current supply (10). One of the foils is arranged transverse to the longitudinal axle in the pinch. The outer piston is made of materials such as quartz glass and Vycor(RTM: heat-resistant glassware).
