The operating unit has an operating knob (2) pivotably supported around space axes (3) in a housing (1), and a printed circuit board (10) assigned to the operating knob. A switch mat (11) is arranged on the circuit board, and the operating knob forming a toggle key is cardanically supported. A center key is arranged in the knob and is longitudinally movably supported in the housing. The switch mat passes into a lower side of the knob and the center key. The switch mat is connected with the knob and the center key by a form closure.
