The unit has a monitor (2) controlling image signal, and raster graphics images displayed on the monitor. A preset pixel pattern is selected in such a manner that the pattern corresponds to a corner configuration of graphic objects (9, 10). An image pixel block e.g. color value, and an image pixel of the rater graphic images are selected in such a manner that the one of the graphic images contains the graphic objects in an extended form with selective corners. The block is assigned to the pattern in pairs, and the image pixel is indicated by image pixel identification information. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing an image signal from another image signal.
