The shell drill has a shaft (1) with a drive side, a spacer unit (3) and a scraping unit (15) fitted on the shaft. The spacer unit projects in a direction of a longitudinal axis of the shaft of the drive side oppositely over the scraping unit. The spacer unit is a part of the shaft and is formed as a blunt. The scraping unit is fitted radially at the shaft, and is formed in a disk-shaped manner. The scraping unit is oriented parallel to a longitudinal axis of the shaft. An independent claim is also included for a method for hollowing a fruit.
