The method involves selecting relevant data and/or parameter e.g. extruder torque, of a twin-screw extruder, and detecting data including a measurement point (1), a theoretical measurement value (3), and measured data, in the extruder. The detecting step is repeated after a preset operating hours. A function (2) of the data is determined after the presence of a measurements series. The function process is projected based on a functional equation. The detected data is compared with the determined function process, and a variation is notified when the data exceeds a preset maximum variation.
