The resolver has two components (1, 2) rotatable around an axis (A), where the resolver is suitable for determination of a relative angular position between the two components. One of the components includes coils (1.1, 2.1), lamination stacks (1.2, 2.2) and retainers (1.31, 2.31). The coils are arranged at the lamination stacks that include individual sheet metals and are mounted at the retainer. The individual sheet metals are made of materials i.e. copper, where the single sheet metal from the one of the materials contacts the retainer. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a resolver.
