A distribution line (12) is coupled to an installation space (14) of the thermally loaded device. A cooling-air supply line (20) and heat removal line (28) are coupled to two pressure regions of a ram-air channel (22) and an adjustable flap (34). An adjustable flap has two operational positions. First position connects the distribution line to the heat removal line. Second position connects the distribution line to the cooling-air supply line. The cooling-air supply line and heat removal line are coupled to regions that are respectively above and below atmospheric pressures in ram-air channel. An independent claim is included for a method for cooling a thermally loaded device on board an aircraft.
