Chalcopyrite solar cell for converting light into electricity, has contact electrode with conductivity, which is higher than that of light absorption layer, and upper electrode divided into parts in area adjacent to contact electrode
The solar cell has a set of lower electrodes formed by a base of a conductive layer. A copper indium gallium di-selenide light absorption layer is formed on the lower electrodes and is divided into several parts. A contact electrode is formed between the adjacent lower electrodes, and on one of the adjacent lower electrodes. The contact electrode has conductivity, which is higher than that of the light absorption layer. An upper electrode, which is a transparent conductive oxide layer, is divided into several parts in an area adjacent to the contact electrode. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a chalcopyrite solar cell.
