The method involves forming an edge (4) and a shell (2) which connect the interior in a water tight way to a wall of a pot shaped base (3). Two height ranges (F,L) of the wall of the pot shaped base are provided during the connection of the shell to the base. The wall of the pot-shaped base is connected to the shell only to the former height range. The wall of the pot shaped base is not connected to the shell in the latter height range. An independent claim is also included for a device for production of a cup made of paper material with a fillable interior.
