Hydrodynamic coupling comprises a return channel (8) extending through a pump wheel (1) or along the pump wheel up to an outer diameter which is 1.05 times the outer diameter of the working chamber. Preferred Features: A control valve (7) in the form of a magnetic valve is arranged in the feed channel (9) and/or in the return channel. The secondary chamber is partially or completely positioned radially within the working chamber (10).
