The method involves capturing an image through an image capture device i.e. camera, coupled to a route planning device e.g. global positioning system (GPS) receiver. Position information of a geographical location is automatically generated from the captured image. The position information is generated by decoding bar codes comprised in the image. A route involving the location for navigation is planned. The position information comprises latitude and longitude of the location, and the location comprises destination of the planned route.
