Electromechanically operated parking brake comprises devices (9) for changing the current consumption of an electromechanical actuator (15) so that certain values of the locking force are determined beforehand. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an electromechanically operated parking brake. Preferred Features: The devices for changing the current consumption of an electromechanical actuator are formed in such a way that they effect a significant change of the current consumption during tightening or loosening of the parking brake.
