The storage device (1) has a base area adapted to dimensions of square-cut shaped goods (3). Lateral, post-like wall units (2) are provided for loading protection for the goods. A load-distributing continuous plate (4) is provided with a flange (5) that runs orthogonal to a plate plane and is arranged at a side of an edge of the plate. The plate is made of plastic or metal, and is arranged between individual layers of the goods which can be transported. The storage device is made of steel.
