The device has a sensor device for determining movements or loads, which are exerted on a seat of a user (2), so that control signals are produced by the sensor device or produced from sensor signals of a control device. The sensor device directly or indirectly detects movement, position, height, acceleration and/or inclination of the seat, using laser light. The sensor device has an inclination sensor, which detects movement of a component e.g. spring leg, attached to the seat relative to the inclination sensor. An acceleration sensor and a position sensor are provided in the sensor device.
