The motor vehicle has a speech interface for receiving an acoustic input of commands for operating the vehicle or a module of the vehicle. The interface has a speech recognition database (24) for storing a portion of the input commands or command components in two versions according to two pronunciations in two different languages, respectively. A speech recognition engine (21) automatically compares an acoustic command with the commands or the command components stored in the database in the versions according to the pronunciations in the languages.
