The method involves measuring a process parameter constantly, and evaluating a measured value of the parameter for determination of a mistake. A polymer fusion is extruded in a filament bundle by an extrusion unit (5). A motor current of an electrical drive (4) of a driven spinning pump (3) is measured as the parameter. The measuring value of the current is evaluated for determining an overload condition of the pump. The measuring value of the current is compared with a tolerance value range, and a correlation time is started during a tolerance excess of the measuring value. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for monitoring a fusion spinning process.
