Obstacle and vehicle e.g. lorry, recognition system, has cameras aligned such that area on side and over end of own vehicle are recognized, and output device providing information about object or vehicle within range of own vehicle
The system has a camera (210), and another camera, which are installed on an own vehicle e.g. tractor, and arranged to each other with alignment on a narrow baseline and rearly aligned in front area of the own vehicle, such that an area on a side of the own vehicle and an area over an end of the own vehicle are recognized. A processor recognizes an object or a vehicle and determines an approximate range on the basis of an input image of the cameras. An output device provides information about the object or the vehicle within a pre-determined range of the own vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a method for recognition of obstacles and vehicles regarding an own vehicle.
