The method involves obtaining two signal sequences by different optical detections of a fluid separation process during which different fractions of fluid are separated. Each signal sequence has events which represent separate, different fractions of fluid. A characteristic for events i.e. peaks, of one of the signal sequences is determined. The determined characteristic is compared with a predetermined threshold value, and the two signal sequences or their events are combined by selection of the events based on the comparison result. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a software stored on a data medium for implementing a method for evaluating signal sequences (2) a device for evaluating two signal sequences.
