Method for working up polyether alcohols, which are produced by a catalytic addition of alkylene oxides to a starter substance carrying reactive hydrogen atoms under the use of alkaline catalyst, is claimed, where an acid releasing agent is used for the neutralization of the alkaline catalyst. Independent claims are included for: (1) a polyether alcohol produced by the above method; and (2) producing polyurethane comprising reacting polyisocyanate with a compound (A) having at least two hydrogen atoms reactive with isocyanate group, where (A) is polyether alcohol that is prepared by the above method.
