The method involves producing a three-dimensional limitation volume by analyzing a set of images, where the volume contains heart, dividing the volume into areas using a mask, and analyzing each area for exceeding a previously determined value. Quantitative measurements are produced for identified calcified plaques, which exceed the value. The volume is produced by segmenting a heart from the images using a set of segmenting projections, lung segmenting based on a model, and localization of the heart, where the images are obtained by a computed tomography (CT) imaging device (100). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer-accessible medium for detecting calcification of a corona artery (2) a device for detecting calcification of corona artery.
