PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control system capable of preventing clogging of a filter and abnormal combustion accompanied by the cogging even if malfunction occurs in a sensor for detecting an amount of exhaust particulates caught by a particulate filter.;SOLUTION: When the malfunction is detected in a pressure sensor and a second exhaust temperature sensor that detect exhaust gas pressure and temperature at the upstream and downstream sides as parameters relative to the amount of the exhaust particulates caught by the particulate filter, the control unit controls an operational status of an engine to thereby prevent the exhaust particulates from clogging the particulate filter differently from the time when no malfunction is detected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
