PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber amplifier for enhancing security by correctly detecting the existence/nonexistence of the off-hook of an output side connector and to provide a method and a device for detecting connector off-hook of a transmission optical fiber connected to the optical fiber amplifier.;SOLUTION: In this optical fiber amplifier provided with an optical fiber amplifier 1 and the transmission optical fiber 14 having connectors 13 and 15 connected the output side of the optical fiber amplifier 1 and the transmission optical fiber 16 connected to the optical fiber amplifier, the optical fiber amplifier measures a reflection attenuation amount from the transmission optical fiber side to the optical fiber amplifier 1 side, compares the reflection attenuation amount with an allowable range between a first threshold larger than a preset reflection attenuation amount without connector off-hook and a second threshold smaller than the reflection attenuation amount without connection off-hook, determines that there is no connector off-hook if the measured reflection attenuation amount is within the allowable range and determines that there is connector off-hook if the reflection attenuation amount is outside the allowable range, and the method is a method for detecting connector off-hook of the transmission optical fiber connected to the optical fiber amplifier.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
