PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a conventional arithmetic unit for correcting a mechanical error of an output of a detection means on the basis of a prescribed input /output characteristics (linear line) that cannot make correction with high accuracy when the input/output characteristics greatly differs from an actual characteristics of the detection means.;SOLUTION: When a digital output of the detection means exceeds an upper limit A stored in a main memory means, the digital output is used for a new upper limit A(a1) and a new lower limit B(a1) is obtained from a virtual line L1-L1 passing through the new upper limit A(a1) and in parallel with a straight line L0-L0. Since an arithmetic output after correction can be obtained from a new input/output characteristics (virtual line L1-L1) on the basis of the new upper limit A(a1) and the new lower limit B(a1), accuracy of the correction can be enhanced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
