The present invention relates to a telecommunication system including at least one transmitter provided with at least one transmitting antenna and at least one receiver provided with at least one receiving antenna, which receiver includes:symbol listing means SLM for producing a list LoS of symbols pj which may potentially be received,marginalization means MGM for associating probability values PrIV(ck) to bits representing said listed symbols pj, anddecoding means CHDEC for refining said probability values.;According to the invention, the symbol listing means SLM are designed for computing a radius value of a sphere intended to encompass the symbols pj to be listed, which radius value is chosen such that at least one probability value PrIV(ck) associated with at least one bit which is invariant among symbols located within said sphere is non-integer and greater than a predetermined probability threshold.;The invention aims at preventing the occurrence of integer probability values, and thus at preventing such integer values from producing significant adverse effects on an iterative interpreting process.
