Rotatable water-cooled target for emission of resonant gamma rays and gamma-ray absorber

A multiple station gamma ray absorption contraband detection system utilizes a proton source and disk-shaped target to provide a 360 degree resonant gamma ray cone which is suitable for use in four separate gamma ray absorption contraband detection stations simultaneously. The target has two beryllium walls coated with 13C and 34S so as to facilitate the detection of nitrogen and chlorine in a manner which reliably and effectively identifies contraband such as explosives and drugs via gamma ray absorption.
