The process of localized repair of enamel metals e.g. plate or sheet steel enamel having a repair zone and a defect zone, comprises preparing and enameling a layer of a repair zone, pre-heating a total zone by infrared radiation controlled by a dimmer until reaching a pre-heating temperature of =500[deg]C of the enamel, heating the repair zone smaller than the total zone by infra-red radiation at a fusion temperature (780[deg]C) by maintaining the rest of the total zone at a temperature higher or equal to the pre-heating temperature, and cooling the two zones. The process of localized repair of enamel metals e.g. plate or sheet steel enamel having a repair zone and a defect zone, comprises preparing and enameling a layer of a repair zone, pre-heating a total zone by infrared radiation controlled by a dimmer until reaching a pre-heating temperature of =500[deg]C of the enamel, heating the repair zone smaller than the total zone by infra-red radiation at a fusion temperature (780[deg]C) by maintaining the rest of the total zone at a temperature higher or equal to the pre-heating temperature, and cooling the two zones by regulating the infra-red radiation using the dimmer so that the thermal constraints in enamel are lower than the breaking constraint of the enamel. The fusion temperature is maintained for a given time allowing the fusion of the layer of enamel. The diameter of the total zone, the repair zone and the defect zone are 20-30 cm, 10-15 cm and 10 cm respectively. The preparation step is carried out by an operation of edging or sandpapering, and the enameling step is carried out by gun powdering or soaking. The pre-heating and the heating steps are carried out with a transmitter of infra-red radiation having two zones of regulation of emitted power. A first zone of regulation of the transmitter is a central zone for the pre-heating and the heating of the repair zone. A second zone of regulation of the transmitter is a peripheral zone for pre-heating and temperature maintenance a complementary zone of the repair zone in the total zone. An independent claim is included for a transmitter of infra-red radiation.
