In a temporary mechanical joining device (1) for an object (2), comprising a segmented annular device (14) forming gripping heads (24), a bolting ring (36) forming a radial support for the heads in bolted configuration and an energy source (60) for generating force between fixed and movable supports (50, 46) and moving the ring to unbolt the object, the fixed support (50) is located towards the interior relative to the bolting ring. A temporary mechanical device (1) for temporarily joining an object (2) to a structure (3) has a bolting device with a segmented annular device (14) forming circumferential gripping heads (24) (cooperating with the object in bolted configuration. A bolting ring (36) forms a radial support for the heads in bolted configuration. An energy source (60), on receiving a command, generates force between fixed and movable supports (50, 46), to move the supports apart and move the ring and unbolt the object from the structure. The novel feature is that the fixed support (50) is located towards the interior relative to the bolting ring (36).
