The fascia (10) has a body part (14) forming an opening (18) for the passage of an airbag (26), and a flap (16) releasing the opening. The flap is separated at its periphery from the fascia during the airbag operation and is retained on the fascia, in an opening position, by a connection device (22) such as inextensible thread, disposed at a side of the opening nearest to a windscreen (12). The device has sufficient length to allow contact with the windscreen at the side of the flap nearest to the windscreen, and is made of metal or plastic material.
