The telephone has a display screen (2) operably connected with a data processing unit (5). The unit displays a graph (G) on the screen, in response to an incoming call that corresponds to a telephone number (T) of digits. The graph represents the telephone number in the form a set of line segments that define a continuous path which corresponds to a run on keys (3) of a numeric pad of a telephone keypad (4) following a sequence of digits or the number of the incoming call. The graph is formed of a downloadable program. A memory (6) maintains a telephone directory.
